Book Acts as Connection between Reader and Writer
GABRIEL: For the highest good of all beings and in the Golden Light of Grace:
I was hoping that you could comment on the shift in my perspective that occurred just days before my stroke in August, which turned my focus to what I am calling Avatarism.
As I was writing about Leslie Marmon Silko’s book Ceremony, I was led to develop the understanding that the reader serves as an avatar for the spirits mentioned in the book, and I realized that this pointed to a new notion of readerly relations to a book. In the terms of Silko’s book, the reader becomes the medium by means of which Spiderwoman tells her story and thereby creates the cosmos and heals this world. We each have this responsibility for carrying out the divine recreation.
On the next day, more or less, I had my stroke. Since then I have seen this call to Avatarism in the early Christian Gnostic notion of epinoia; the Sufi notion of Creative Imagination; Buddhist Kalachakra tantra; shamanic shape-shifting; Pentecostal notions such as serving as the temple of the Holy Ghost; and the Bailey/DK notion of the Reappearance of the Christ.
The call to avatarism, then, seems to be a call to identify with and seek to manifest in body, word, and action—by means of divine imagination—the expressions of divinity that call to us. This all excites me to the core as I imagine how it relates to my future academic work and my own spiritual development more generally.
Am I understanding this call correctly? What else do I need to know? What do I need to do? And is this insight related in any way to my stroke?
MONITOR: We find that your High Self is guiding you step-by-step through a learning process that requires that you implement insights. The entire process places you in an advanced position of understanding the mechanisms of creativity and communication.
Your methodology expands with that added clarity. Your role as a teacher is at the point of blossoming. You have greater access to Higher Consciousness and may draw upon its wisdom, and you may also express the values of deeper insight into the processes of your teaching.
We agree with the concept that you describe as the mechanism of avatar, which we regard as the ability to replicate on a lower level of manifestation the qualities and capabilities available on a higher level of consciousness. The reader is invited to become an avatar.
The reality of communication conveyed by a written book needs to be considered. When a person reads the words on paper or electronic screen, the words of human language trigger certain areas of activity within the physical and etheric brains. On that level, the mechanisms of communication multiply. They involve stimulation of the four bodies of the personality that mimics the action or experience of a personality.
For example, if you describe the subject of your book’s experiences in achieving higher states of consciousness and insight, the reader is invited not only by the words in the book but also by direct communication between your High Self and Subconscious Selves and the reader’s equivalents. That communication is often unrecognized. The words in a book rely upon human language, yet the essence of what a book offers is presented by the level of consciousness of the writer and what the writer is able to manifest from higher levels of consciousness, such as those of the High Self and Soul.
The book acts as a connection between reader and writer, and that connection has far greater depth than is commonly recognized. When you consider your intention of offering to the reader the experiences of the subject of your book, you also are in communication with her. That communication occurs High Self to High Self and Subconscious Selves to equivalent Subconscious Selves within you.
You draw upon that level of communication and find it helpful at times to revise some of the words you have written. As you reread a draft of your words, you communicate not only with the woman you are writing about but also with your High Self and Soul, as well as Spirit Teachers. As Monitor, we have also been engaged in that process.
Understand that the act of communication by words and even by speaking engages those deeper levels of being. Each reader or observer becomes engaged on superconscious and subconscious levels. Your intentions as the writer direct the emphasis. In most human writing, the emphasis lies mainly upon the subconscious level of experience.
Many writers are motivated to add some point of elevation in their communication, where they may invoke a transcendental feeling within the reader. That transcendental experience occurs when the High Self or Soul or Spirit Teacher level of communication takes place within the reader.
As you process this information, we encourage you to seek refinement of it. We have limited time today. We intend what we have shared to be an invitation to you to explore those dimensions. For example, we suggest a process where you take a portion of your writing, say one paragraph, and ask your High Self to comment upon your Subconscious Selves that were engaged.
As you communicate with those Subconscious Selves, primarily Male and Female Selves, you may learn their viewpoint, their interpretation of the information they received from the Subconscious Selves of the woman the book is about. At that level of view, you can better understand how your Subconscious Selves have participated in that communication and how they have colored it based upon their own experiences.
You may then ask your High Self to introduce a refinement from your High Self’s perspective of information that may perhaps reduce the coloring introduced by Subconscious Selves. We ask you to realize that often the Subconscious Selves’ coloring of information they have received from the subject of the book may also be of value. If its value is motivational to the reader, you may wish to retain what that coloring evokes in the reader.
If you find that the coloring limits the reader’s response, you may wish to ask the High Self to collaborate with the Subconscious Self that has added the limited value coloring so that it may achieve more universal scope.
The exercise we suggest will help you better understand the process of communication that you have engaged in. As you allow that understanding to digest within you, you may utilize some additional techniques in your writing.
We shall stop at that point. We see that your role as a teacher is now expanding. It does not mean that you [should] do something bizarre, but rather utilize sensible procedures that you incorporate into your writing to make it more powerful for readers. In doing that, you also encourage a wider reception of what you read. In other words, more books will sell because the High Self of your personality conveys to High Selves throughout the planet the value of the writing you have performed.
